2010 Singing Progam
 

Many singers from the 2009 Festival asked for more opportunities.  In response to these requests, the SPI Festival is offering the following 2010 Singing Program. No experience required, just a love of singing and the camaraderie of singing with others; improve your voice while enjoying learning traditional songs in a traditional style.

  GROUP SINGING FOR FUN
 

Singing Classes (Parts 1,2,3,4) and Warm-up Workshop

Warm Ups
Tanya Perkins*
Warm up exercises in correct breathing; work on techniques to help achieve a full rich voice and improve resonance, articulation and style.  In other words, how to get the most out of your voice and have the best fun you have ever had in a singing lesson.
This workshop is open to all, but is especially designed for participants of “Group Singing for Fun.”

Group Singing Part 1
Ed Miller*-Tanya Perkins
Beginning work on learning several popular Scottish songs from Ed’s own vast repertoire. The background of the songs and their meanings will set the stage for work on a Scottish style of interpretation, including pronunciation, inflection, rhythm, phrasing, etc.

Group Singing Part 2

Participants will interpret the Scottish phraseology and work on song harmonies, timing and expressiveness as well as on vocal skills to enhance performance.

Group Singing Part 3

Ed Miller-- TanyaPerkin--Kim McKee
Refining the songs learned for performance including enunciation, rhythm, emotional reflections, pacing, timing, dramatic interpretation and presentation.

Group Singing Part 4

Performance
Singers will perform as part of the Final Festival Ceilidh.
     
 

PROGRAM FEES

The  fee for the Singing Program, Parts 1,2,3, and 4, is $70. For students taking the extra Friday pm Warm up Class, the fee is $75 for program plus Warm-ups.  (NOTE: This is meant to be a total program.  If a student has to miss a class that’s fine, but the cost of the program remains the same.  Individual classes are not priced separately.)
